            October is the English Month. The aim of this program is to encourage students to learn and use the English language. It will also greatly help in widening the knowledge of students about grammars and literature through some activities.

          Ilocos Sur National High School is also one of the schools to introduce the month October in launching the English Month Celebration. The English Club of the school prepares activities and competitions for the students like Quiz Bee, Extemporaneous Speaking, Speech Choir, Spelling Bee and many more.

          Joining these activities is lot of fun. It will enhance and develop the knowledge of students about the English Language that will uplift the performance level and make students English proficient in the future.

BORN TO BE EQUAL

All of us were born to be equal. God created man to have equal chances, equal rights and equal opportunities. God created man to be equal whether you are rich or poor. We are all equal whether weak or strong.

          In the eyes of God, boys and girls are also equal. Equal in rights and equal in obligations and responsibilities. And it was called Gender Equality. Which means, what man can do, woman can do. Nowadays, some women took the job of men like welding, constructions and many more.

          Back in older times, women were underestimated by man. Women before were only working at homes and some were only slaves. And that wasn't God’s order. God created man and woman to help each other.

          The equality of people in a country makes it peaceful and orderly. And make people unite to achieve the freedom.

They say that if there is a beginning, there is also an ending. The second grading period again ended. I feel a little bit sad because there is only two grading periods remaining before we bid goodbye to our beloved Alma mater, the Ilocos Sur National High School.

            During the second grading period, I learned a lot of things. I learned academic lessons as well as morals. At the end of each day of our classes, I learned to enjoy; enjoy each hours, minutes and seconds of the time. In our ICT class, I learned many concepts of Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML); about tags and how to use the Notepad. I am happy because even if Ma’am can’t teach us because of many things she do, the exercises she gave is very fun.

            This grading period, I can say that I have done my best. I have done better than last grading period. And hopefully, I will do again better next time.

                Teachers are  heroes…………………………………..

                Every time we go to school, they are the one who took care of us. Every time we are in the class, they teach us the very best. Every time we ask for happiness, they’re always ready to give . Every time we are in our worst times, they’re always at our side. And every time we made mistakes, they always ready to forgive.

                Just imagine how much sacrifice they have made; for each days they attend their classes and for each days they made us smile. Just imagine how late they sleep at night. Just imagine how much sweat dropped every time they teach us lessons. And just imagine if there is no teacher; are there doctors, engineers, lawyers, accountants and police?

                We can say that a teacher is truly our heroes. So that we can express our gratitude to them, we must respect them, and every time we meet them at school or at the public areas, we will not forget to say “Ma’am”.

              The world is now considered as a fast soaring bird. Optimum progress is the main target of every nation. Likewise, increasing also each country’s rate of industrialization with the use of Science and Technology is the bull’s eye.

              Building up a progressive country is not easy. There are many obstacles that might prevent the development. One factor to consider is the destruction of the environment. Through the use of much advancement in technology, degradation of our environment occurs and more frequently, many ecological problems arises. And these problems may cause a menace in our society.

              To prevent the possible outbreak of these problems, we must build a possible solution. One big step to do is to utilize the youth. Through the initiative of our government, the creation of science youth organizations such as Science Club and Yes-O club are possibly made.

              Science clubbers are now in action to build up the solution of the problems of our society. They introduced many programs and activities which enlightened the mind of every individual to a greener way of living.

              Empowering Science Clubbers will also make a big step to the forward march of our progress. This can greatly help in lifting the knowledge of every individual that can permanently carry us in the climax of progress.

SIMPLE WAYS

                Nowadays, heroes are unique from our traditional heroes. Unlike Andres Bonifacio and Jose P. Rizal, our heroes today didn’t sacrifice their lives to become hero; instead, they became heroes from their own simple ways.
                Our parents are examples of modern day heroes. Remember that they took us to this wonderful world. And they also sacrifice to support us in our decisions in life. From our childhood to our adult years, they’re still in our sides.
                A teacher can also be a hero. Our teachers are our second parents. When we are in school, they take care of us like our parents do when we are at home. They also widen our knowledge each day we take our lesson. And remember that there are no other professions if there are no teachers.
                There are many types of heroes today. They became heroes because they have done things for the betterment of our society.

LETS CELEBRATE!

     Even before the Philippines was handled by the Spaniards, the country's culture was very rich. Different Filipino bloodlines have their own languages which became the way to develop and produce what we call the "Panitikang Filipino".

     The Filipino Language is very significant. Through the use of this language, Filipinos from different islands of the country were united as one. The language has been the guide for every citizen in the country which made the laws and ordinances easier to be implemented.

     Through the initiative of our former President Fidel V. Ramos, Republic Act 1041 was enforced to introduce August as the Language Month or "Buwan ng Wika".

     Different schools all over the nation celebrates the "Buwan ng Wika" by introducing different activities and competitions with relevance to the celebration. Some activities includes, Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Pagsulat ng Tula, Sabayang Pagbigkas, Balagtasan, Dula-dulaan, Ginoo at Binibinng Wika and many more.

     These activities opened the mind of every student how mportant the language is.
